Asian Freight Forwarders Forum

BACKGROUND

The Asian Freight Forwarders Forum is an extension to the Freight Forwarders Forum held by the Port of Marseille Authority in France in June 2004. The forum in France was a success with active participation from
Port Authorities, Terminal Operators and Freight Forwarders from both France and the Asian Nations.

At this forum, Port Klang participated at this forum with favorable results in terms of business networking.
As PMA and PKA sisterports hence we carried out a similar promotional exercise.

The first Asian Freight Forwarders Forum was held 11 – 13 September 2005 in Kuala Lumpur with the
objectives of :

• Create new business opportunities

• Diversifying marketing strategies

• Create a networking opportunity for all participants with our Asian community

• Platform for International and Regional Freight Forwarders to interact

PARTICIPATION

Freight Forwarders and practitioners from the shipping community in the Asian region. Logistic leaders from selected regions will be invited to speak on their experiences.

The highlight of the forum would be the business to business meetings in which we hope to create linkages and business opportunities.

This forum will focus on potential sectors such as the Indian and China markets.

Through this forum we hope to establish new horizons and establish an opportunity to grow together as an Asian Nation.

23 January 2007 - Day 1
	•Opening ceremony • Morning Session - Focus on India • Evening Session – Focus on Europe • Networking Evening
24 January 2007 – Day 2
	• Morning Session - Focus on China/Vietnam followed by Focus on US/Mediterranean countries. • Afternoon Session - Business to Business Meetings
25 January 2007 – Day 3
	• Business to Business Meetings • Port Visits – PKFZ, Westport, Northport (Port Klang) • Recreation trips organized by Tourism Malaysia.
